At least 27 dead after attack on armposts – Afghanistan

In an attack in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar, dozens of people have been killed and injured. 17 soldiers disappeared – whether they were kidnapped, is not clear yet.

The Afghan security forces have suffered heavy losses in the struggle against the Taliban for months. In a Taliban attack on an armpost again numerous people were killed. Military speaker Mohammad Essa said at least five soldiers were killed in the attack in southern Kandahar.

Most victims were on the side of the attackers. According to the figures, 22 Taliban fighters were killed and 26 others were injured. The fate of 17 Afghan soldiers was still unclear. They had disappeared after the attack. Whether the missing persons were abducted was not known at first.

By 2016 alone, 6785 soldiers and policemen were killed in Afghanistan by military sources and another 11,777 had been injured – a multiple of the losses of all international troops in Afghanistan in 15 years.
